Odisha govt considers public release of Swami Laxmanananda assassination report

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Monday that the state government will soon make the inquiry commission report on the murder of VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati public.
The Chief Minister has held discussions on the matter, and the state government is expected to make a decision regarding the release of the probe report on Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati's assassination. "We will take a decision on this soon," the minister informed the media.
It is noteworthy that Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and four of his associates were killed by unidentified assailants at his Jalespata Ashram in Kandhamal district on Janmashtami in 2008.
The previous state government, led by Naveen Patnaik, had established a Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice A.S. Naidu to investigate the assassination of the senior VHP leader. Although the commission submitted its report eight years ago, the findings have yet to be made public.
