IMD issues orange alert for Odisha ; heavy rainfall predicted till August 26

Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warnings for several districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning through August 26.
On August 23, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in parts of Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, prompting an orange warning for these areas.
A yellow warning has also been issued for heavy rainfall in the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jajpur, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda.
For August 24, IMD predicts similar conditions with heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) and thunderstorms likely in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts. Additionally, heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda districts.
On August 25, the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Angul, and Dhenkanal are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) with thunderstorms, leading to an orange warning.
The IMD forecast also includes heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms for Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Deogarh on August 25.
