Odisha Assembly adjourned amidst breach of privilege notice against CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, July 29: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned until 4 PM on Monday following a breach of privilege notice moved by the Congress against Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The Congress filed the notice in response to CM Majhi's announcement of a 10% reservation for Agniveers in all uniformed services, made outside the Assembly during the ongoing Budget session.
Senior Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati questioned the appropriateness of the Chief Minister’s out-of-House announcement during the Assembly session, pointing out that when Majhi was in opposition, he had similarly moved breach of privilege notices against two ministers for rule violations.
BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallik also criticized the Chief Minister, questioning whether he consulted with the Home, Finance, and AG departments before making the reservation announcement. Mallik demanded an apology from CM Majhi for violating Assembly rules.
Conversely, BJP leader and MLA from Bhatli, Irasis Acharya, defended the Chief Minister and questioned the Congress's actions. Acharya queried whether the Congress had consulted with the Speaker before filing their breach of privilege notice and moved a counter breach of privilege notice against the Congress for disclosing House affairs to the media without the Speaker’s consent.
