Odisha plans to recruit 15,000 teachers, combat school dropouts

Bhubaneswar, June 26: School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond announced on Wednesday that 15,000 teachers would soon be recruited, and measures would be implemented to reduce dropout rates in government schools.
"We have outlined a roadmap to enhance the quality of school education," Minister Gond stated. He emphasized that all vacant positions in schools up to Class XII will be filled through upcoming recruitment drives. The department's primary focus will be on minimizing school dropouts.
"We will conduct campaigns to engage with parents, encouraging them to enroll their children in schools," the Minister affirmed. Additionally, schools lacking essential facilities such as toilets, classrooms, and drinking water will be equipped accordingly. Special efforts will be made to promote school attendance in rural areas.
Minister Gond assured that longstanding issues in primary schools would be addressed promptly. "Teachers will now dedicate their time to teaching in classrooms, not protesting on the streets," he emphasized.
The Minister also highlighted plans to review the implementation of 5T programs and promised strict action against any irregularities. He hinted at the possible reintroduction of uniforms consisting of blue pants and white shirts for students.
