Elderly man dies, grandson critically injured in honeybee attack in Malkangiri
Bhubaneswar, June 25: An elderly man died and his grandson sustained severe injuries after being stung by honeybees at Barangbadi village under Machhakund police limits in Malkangiri district on Tuesday.
\The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. Sources indicate that the elderly man and his grandson were grazing cattle in a nearby forest when they were attacked by a swarm of bees.
Locals rescued them and rushed them to a hospital, where the elderly man succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The grandson remains in critical condition.
Last month, 15 people were injured in a similar incident at Demuria village under Jaleswar block in Balasore. The villagers were attending a cremation when honeybees attacked, causing panic and leading them to flee, leaving the body behind.
A firefighting team was alerted and arrived to disperse the bees.
