Villagers detain police officers after mistaken raid in Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar, June 20: Reports from Thursday indicate a police raid gone awry in Bhadrak district, Odisha, where villagers detained police officers during a midnight operation in Chandbali block under Bansada Police limits.
The raid was conducted to apprehend a suspect but resulted in the villagers taking custody of five constables, including an ASI.
According to available information, Officer Debraj Jena of Bansada police station received intelligence suggesting the accused was hiding in Murali's house. However, villagers alleged that the police mistakenly raided the wrong house, damaging doors and windows in the process.
In response, the villagers detained the constables, including the ASI, for approximately four hours in protest. After negotiations between police officials and the villagers, the detained officers were eventually released.
