IMD predicts temperature surge in Odisha starting tuesday

Bhubaneswar, May 28: Odisha is expected to face another heat spell starting Tuesday, according to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar. The IMD forecasts that day temperatures will rise by 3°C to 5°C over the next three to four days.
In a statement on its X handle, the IMD said, “The maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to rise by 3°C-5°C during the next 3 to 4 days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.” Despite the temperature increase, heatwave conditions are not expected to return soon.
Additionally, some areas in the state may experience scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thundershowers during this period.
On Tuesday, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely in one or two places, including Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada, with dry weather prevailing in the remaining districts. On Wednesday, similar weather is expected in Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Bargarh, while dry conditions will likely continue in the rest of Odisha.
This forecast follows moderate rainfall in many parts of Odisha due to the impact of Severe Cyclone ‘Remal’.
