Odisha Police deploy 35,000 personnel for peaceful elections on May 25

Bhubaneswar, May 24: The Odisha Police are taking extensive measures to ensure the upcoming elections on May 25 are conducted smoothly and without incident. This election will cover six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats in the state.
At a press conference, DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi announced the deployment of 35,000 state police and paramilitary personnel to prevent violence during the elections. These forces will operate across 12 police districts: Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Cuttack UPD, Nayagarh, Puri, Khordha, and Bhubaneswar UPD.
Voting will take place in 10,551 booths located at 7,646 locations, with around 20 percent of these booths classified as sensitive. The security deployment includes 121 companies of Paramilitary Forces, 106 platoons of Odisha Armed Police, and 19,865 civil police officers. Additionally, 43 Additional SPs, 95 DSPs, 238 inspectors, 2,160 SIs, 10,212 constables and havildars, and 7,117 Home Guards and Grama Rakhis will be on duty to ensure safety during the polls.
Moreover, five young IPS officers of ASP rank will be stationed at sensitive booths in Sambalpur, Khordha, Keonjhar, and Cuttack. A total of 84 DSPs, two per assembly segment, will maintain law and order across 42 Assembly segments, which have been divided into 231 sectors. Each sensitive booth will have one or half a section of CAPF for additional security.
