Forest Department safely captures leopard spotted in Baripada

Baripada, May 17: A leopard was sighted roaming in Baripada town within Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday morning, sparking panic among locals. However, authorities managed to capture the animal later.
According to reports, the forest department tranquilized the leopard before safely securing it. The incident occurred in the Bhanjapur area of the town, prompting forest department officials to launch a search operation.
Given Baripada's proximity to the Similipal National Park, sightings of wild animals in and around the town are not uncommon. Previously, a leopard was spotted in Jagannathpur village along the Lulung Road within the Baripada forest division.
This incident follows a tragic event in Odisha’s Sambalpur district, where a man lost his life in a leopard attack. The incident took place in Orampada of Sahedi village under the Nakatideula Range of Rairakhol.
