Emergency landing for Bhubaneswar-Delhi Vistara flight due to windshield crack

Bhubaneswar, May 1: A Vistara flight bound for Delhi encountered an emergency situation shortly after departing from Bhubaneswar International Airport on Wednesday.
According to preliminary reports, the aircraft's windshield sustained a crack during a hailstorm that swept through various parts of Odisha this afternoon.
Confirming the incident, Bhubaneswar Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan stated that besides the windshield, some portions of the aircraft's structure also suffered damage.
"The flight took off from Bhubaneswar around 1:45 pm and, after about 10 minutes, requested priority landing assistance due to the crack in the windshield and structural damage," said Pradhan.
Following protocols, the flight safely landed without requiring assistance. With approximately 170 to 180 passengers on board, all individuals emerged unharmed.
"All passengers are currently awaiting further instructions at the airport, and arrangements are underway for another flight to transport them. The departure of the replacement flight will be contingent upon necessary repairs," Pradhan added, emphasizing that the landing was routine despite the unforeseen circumstances.
