Angul, April 27: In a devastating road accident, three individuals, including a minor boy, lost their lives when a truck collided with their motorcycle on NH 55 near Panchamahala in Angul district on Saturday morning.

The deceased, identified as Krupa Dehury (48), Rajendra Pradhan (21), and Subrat Pradhan (17), were en route from their village, Derjanga, to Angul in the morning.

A speeding truck struck their motorcycle from behind, dragging them several meters at Panchamahala chhak, resulting in their instant demise.

The incident caused tension as locals congregated on the highway and staged a road blockade, leading to disruptions in traffic flow for hours with trucks and buses stranded on the road.

Police intervened at the scene to calm the agitated crowd. As of the report filing, the angered demonstrators persisted in demanding adequate compensation for the families of the deceased.

Authorities seized the bodies and dispatched them for post-mortem examination.
