Bhubaneswar, April 2: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has instructed the Chief Secretary of Odisha to promptly reassign two IAS and six IPS officers in various districts to roles unrelated to election duties.

In a communication addressed to the Odisha Chief Secretary, ECI Secretary Rakesh Kumar specified the transfer of Vineet Bhardwaj, serving as DM & DEO in Cuttack; Parul Patawari, DM & DEO in Jagatsinghpur; Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, SP in Angul; Saravana Vivek M, SP in Berhampur (District Ganjam); Jugal Kishore Banoth, SP in Khurda; Mitrabhanu Mahapatra, SP in Rourkela; Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh, DCP in Cuttack; and Ashish Kumar Singh, IG Central, to roles unrelated to election responsibilities, effective immediately.

The directive specifies that three qualified officers must be nominated for each of the aforementioned positions. The Chief Secretary has been instructed to submit a compliance report to the ECI by 5:00 PM today.
