Odisha CM approves police outpost at Bhubaneswar's new bus terminal

Bhubaneswar : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has greenlit the establishment of a police outpost at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Bhubaneswar, with plans to recruit 89 police officers to oversee its operations.
The construction of this interstate bus terminal, a flagship project under the 5T initiative, is nearing completion and is set to be operational soon. With an expected daily influx of 700 to 800 buses initially, potentially rising to 1700 to 1800 buses in the future, the terminal anticipates serving a significant volume of passengers, estimated at 35,000 to 45,000 daily.
The decision to establish a police outpost at the terminal arose during visits by 5T Chairman Karthik Pandian, who, alongside officials and local stakeholders, evaluated the project's progress. Recognizing the necessity for passenger safety and convenience, discussions led to the proposal, subsequently approved by the Chief Minister.
The terminal's comprehensive amenities, including a passenger restaurant, ample parking, food center, and designated pick-up and drop-off points, highlight the critical importance of a robust security system.
The slated recruitment for the outpost comprises 2 sub-inspectors, 9 assistant sub-inspectors, 4 habildars, 72 constables, and 2 drivers, ensuring a well-rounded team to manage the terminal's security needs effectively.
