Kendrapara : A devastating accident near Ostapur, under Sadar police limits in Odisha's Kendrapara district, claimed the lives of at least three members of a local jatra troupe on Monday. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, while reports indicate that four others sustained injuries in the tragic incident.

The critically injured individuals have been rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for urgent medical attention.

According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when the SUV carrying the troupe veered off course and collided with a roadside tree, resulting in the loss of control by the driver. The troupe members were reportedly returning home after participating in a local drama performance.

Debashis Sahoo, Medical Officer at Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital, stated, "We received three women who were brought in and declared deceased. Three individuals with critical head injuries have been referred to Cuttack. One person, sustaining minor injuries, has been admitted here and is in stable condition."
