Loco-pilot jumps to safety as train engine catches fire in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: A train's locomotive pilot managed to escape a life-threatening situation by jumping off the train when the engine suddenly caught fire.
The pilot sustained injuries and was rescued by Railway Protection Force (RPF) and fire service personnel. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at Joranda Road Station, en route to Dhenkanal station.
Reports indicate that the locomotive pilot was operating the engine towards Athgarh Station in Cuttack district from Joranda Road Station. Several kilometers from Govindpur, the engine caught fire, engulfing it in flames and smoke. In a desperate attempt to save himself, the pilot leaped from the moving engine.
Upon receiving the alert, station officials, RPF, and fire service teams swiftly responded and commenced firefighting operations. The firefighting efforts are currently ongoing. The locomotive pilot is receiving medical treatment, and railway officials have stated that his condition is stable.
