High School Certificate exams kick off in Odisha with stringent security measures

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: A massive cohort of 5,60,000 students is set to partake in the High School Certificate (HSC) examinations (matric examination) across 3,047 centers throughout the state starting Tuesday, with the examinations scheduled to conclude on March 4.
The initial paper on Tuesday focused on MIL, prompting the board to advise students to arrive at the examination center 1.5 hours before the designated start time. Although exams commenced at 9:00 am, students gained entry to the examination hall at 7:30 am, with the examination center gates closing at 8:15 am.
In a notable enhancement of security protocols, AI-based CCTV cameras have been strategically installed at vulnerable centers for the first time. The board aims to fortify the integrity and administration of the examinations through comprehensive CCTV surveillance at examination centers.
A command control room, overseen by 20 experts and board authorities, will be vigilant throughout the examination period. Dr. Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, the vice-president of the board, affirmed that in the event of malpractice or any untoward situations at examination centers, the command center will receive real-time information through the AI cameras, ensuring a swift and effective response.
