Boipariguda IIC terminated following massive cash recovery

Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: The Odisha Police on Saturday terminated the services of Boipariguda Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Sushanta Satpathy, who had been apprehended on November 28 following the recovery of a substantial Rs 37.27 lakh in cash by Vigilance authorities.
The vigilance team intercepted Satpathy near Tankua, within the jurisdiction of Jeypore Sadar police station, on the evening of November 27 while he was en route to his Cuttack residence in a private bus. They discovered Rs 2.70 lakh in his possession during the initial interception. Subsequent searches at his office and official quarters in Boipariguda uncovered Rs 1.80 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, respectively.
“In consonance with zero tolerance policy of the state government towards corruption, DGP has dismissed Sushanta Satpathy, Inspector of Police, from the service under Article311(2)(b) of Indian Constitution following his arrest in a corruption case,” the department posted on X.
The officer, previously marked with one black mark as a disciplinary measure by the Jagatsinghpur SP in 2012, faced suspension in January 2020 by the Rayagada SP for misconduct and dereliction of duty. After serving as a Sub-Inspector for several years, he received a promotion to the rank of inspector and was assigned to Koraput in July. He held the position of IIC at Boipariguda police station since August.
