Bhubaneswar: Former Union Minister Devendra Pradhan has passed away. He passed away at the age of 83 at Delhi AIIMS while undergoing treatment. He was suffering from age-related diseases. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's father is Devendra Pradhan. He was the Transport Minister in the Vajpayee government. He was the state BJP president from 1988 to 1993. From 1993 to 1995, he was the general secretary of the state BJP. He was again the BJP president from 1995 to 1997.

Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the demise of former Union Minister and former State BJP President Dr. Devendra Pradhan. Paying deep tributes to the late Dr. Pradhan, Mr. Patnaik said that the late Dr. Pradhan will be remembered for his unparalleled organizational skills and unwavering personality. As a minister in the ministry of the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he had also shown his administrative skills. In the demise of Dr. Pradhan, the state has lost an influential political figure and a popular politician, said Shri Patnaik in his condolence message. Wishing the departed soul peace and expressing his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the demise of former Union Minister Devendra Pradhan. In a condolence message, the Chief Minister said that the late Pradhan was a popular public leader and an able parliamentarian. He had discharged his duties as the Union Minister for Transport and Agriculture from 1999 to 2001 with skill. As a public representative and MP, he had become a darling of the common people by doing many welfare works. He has made his significant contribution to the development of the state. As the President of the State BJP, the late Pradhan had made a significant contribution to the development of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Odisha. He dedicated his entire life for the development of the state with a spirit of service and determination. The Chief Minister said that the country and the state have lost a distinguished public servant due to the demise of this senior personality. Expressing his condolences to his son and Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and the rest of the family, the Chief Minister said that may God give them the strength to bear this terrible loss. The Chief Minister spoke to Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan over the phone and expressed his condolences. The Chief Minister prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
