Cyclonic remnants of WIPHA to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 23: A cyclonic circulation—remnant of Tropical Cyclone WIPHA—is likely to emerge over the north Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the region in the subsequent 24 hours.
In its mid-day bulletin, IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain, accompanied by gusty surface winds (30–40 kmph), in parts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, and Keonjhar.
Similar weather is expected over several other districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal in the next 24 hours.
