Veteran singer Geeta Pattnaik hospitalised after cerebral stroke; condition critical
Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Veteran Odia singer Geeta Pattnaik has been admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack after reportedly suffering a cerebral stroke on Thursday, triggering concern among her fans and the cultural fraternity.
According to reports, Pattnaik had attended a literary event in Bhubaneswar as a guest earlier in the day. During the programme, she suddenly fell ill, prompting organisers and attendees to rush her to Capital Hospital for immediate medical attention. Doctors there confirmed that she had suffered a cerebral stroke.
Given the seriousness of her condition, she was later shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack, where she is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Medical sources have described her condition as critical. However, her family members have not yet issued any official statement regarding her health status.
Her sudden hospitalisation has sparked widespread anxiety among admirers and members of the literary and music communities. Pattnaik is celebrated for her immense contribution to Odia music since the 1970s, including memorable collaborations with legendary singer Akshaya Mohanty.
