Former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das appointed as Principal Secretary-2 to PM

Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: In a major administrative reshuffle, the central government has appointed former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das as Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) issued an official notification confirming his appointment on Saturday.
Das, who served as the RBI Governor for six years from December 2018, has an extensive four-decade career in governance. He has held several key positions in both central and state governments, with expertise in finance, taxation, industries, and infrastructure. His tenure at the RBI was marked by crucial economic measures, including efforts to stabilize the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His appointment as Principal Secretary-2 will be co-terminus with the Prime Minister’s term or until further orders. This move highlights the government’s intent to utilize his vast administrative and economic expertise to enhance the functioning of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). With his appointment, Das is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping financial and economic policies at the highest level.
