Tensions rise in Raghunathpur after young girl killed by Mo Bus

Bhubaneswar, Feb 4: Tension escalated near Raghunathpur Square under the Nandankanan police limits on Tuesday following a tragic road accident that claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl. The victim, identified as the daughter of Ram Tidia from Raghunathpur, was fatally struck by a Mo Bus while returning home after plucking flowers. The impact was so severe that she died instantly at the scene.
In response to the incident, hundreds of local residents took to the streets, blocking the Nandankanan-Patia road with bamboo, which caused significant traffic disruptions and left numerous vehicles stranded on both sides. The angry protesters demanded immediate action against the bus driver and called for enhanced road safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
The Nandankanan police arrived promptly, launching an investigation while working to de-escalate the situation. In the chaos, some locals vandalized the Mo Bus, prompting police to seize the vehicle for further examination. The blockade was eventually lifted, and normal traffic flow resumed after the victim's family received compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the authorities.
