Picnic trip turns tragic: Six injured in Balasore car crash

Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: Six individuals sustained critical injuries following a head-on collision between two cars near Benuda Chhak on State Highway 57 in Odisha's Balasore district on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred when a Bolero car traveling from Mayurbhanj to Digha collided with a Mahindra XUV that was heading towards Balasore. Both vehicles were reportedly traveling at high speed, leading to the severe impact that injured the six occupants of the Bolero, who were on their way to a picnic in Digha.
Upon receiving the emergency call, local police swiftly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to Jaleswar Medical Center for immediate medical attention. Due to the severity of their injuries, four of the victims were later transferred to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for advanced care. Notably, the driver of one of the vehicles managed to flee the scene after the accident.
In response to the incident, police have seized both vehicles involved and have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the crash. Further updates on the victims' conditions are awaited.
