Bhubaneswar, Nov 21: A tragic accident claimed the life of a woman at the Palasuni intersection in Bhubaneswar on Thursday morning. She was struck by a speeding truck while attempting to cross the busy road and died on the spot.

The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was reportedly returning from the local market with provisions. As she crossed the road, the truck hit her, causing severe injuries. Despite the efforts of locals and passers-by to assist and call an ambulance, its delayed arrival left the woman without timely medical aid.

The gruesome scene, with her belongings and groceries scattered nearby, sparked tension in the area. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded for about an hour as agitated locals blocked the National Highway to protest the incident.

Residents blamed the absence of a foot overbridge at the busy Palasuni intersection, which they described as a "death trap." They have long demanded its construction to prevent such tragedies, but authorities have yet to act. An investigation into the accident is underway.
