Armed intruders apprehended after creating chaos at Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar, April 30: In a swift response to an alarming situation, authorities have apprehended two armed individuals who caused disturbance at the renowned Nandankanan Zoo on Monday evening.
The suspects have been identified as Prasant Kumar Pahada Singh and Gobind Sahu, both hailing from Darudenga village. Their actions were meticulously recorded by CCTV cameras installed within the zoo premises.
According to surveillance footage, the duo forcefully entered the office of the Deputy Director of Nandankanan Zoological Park brandishing weapons. Their intrusion instilled fear and chaos, particularly in the offices of Assistant Conservator of Forest (Social Media) and Assistant Conservator of Forest (Visitor Management), as well as in the office corridor.
Prasant Kumar and Gobind proceeded to physically assault Dr. Rajesh Mahapatra, a biologist, Dr. Sudipta Kumar Panda, Assistant Conservator of Forest (Social Behavior Group), Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Swoin, Assistant Conservator of Forest (Social Media), and Ashutosh Campa, an audit officer in the Finance and Expenditure Department of the Government of Odisha.
Additionally, they caused extensive damage to office equipment, including computers, laptops, printers, TVs, and furniture. The audit officer's laptop and mobile phones were also among the destroyed items.
Following this, the assailants attempted to forcibly enter the Zoo Hospital by damaging its front door. The motive behind their disruptive behavior remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain further details surrounding the incident.
