IMD forecasts light rain to cool Odisha's sweltering conditions

Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: The state may see relief from recent hot weather with the Meteorological Department forecasting light rain in various parts of Odisha starting today.
According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain is expected in several districts until February 28. On Thursday, light rain or thunderstorms are likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jajpur districts, while dry weather is anticipated elsewhere in Odisha.
Additionally, areas including Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and coastal Odisha may experience light rain.
Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts on February 23, prompting a yellow alert in these areas.
The IMD forecasts minimal change in minimum temperatures across Odisha in the next 4-5 days. Expect maximum temperatures around 36°C and minimum temperatures around 23°C in the next 24 hours.
Bhubaneswar registered the highest maximum temperature at 36.4°C, while Phulbani recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 15.5°C on Thursday.
