Renowned cardiologist JP Das passes away

Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: Prominent cardiologist Dr. Jadunath Prasad Das passed away on Sunday evening at a private hospital.
At the time of his demise, Dr. Das was surrounded by his wife Gayatri Das, a dedicated social worker, his son Dr. Debbrata Das, daughter-in-law Bidya Das, and granddaughter Ishani Das. The news of the eminent cardiologist's death has prompted condolences from distinguished figures in the field of medical science.
Born on August 5, 1933, Dr. Das completed his HSC Examination at Ranihat High School, Cuttack, and pursued ISc at Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. He earned his MBBS degree from SCB Medical College, Cuttack, in 1956.
A distinguished Fellow of several medical societies, Dr. Das held the distinction of being the 6th qualified cardiologist in India. Widely recognized as the "Father of Cardiology" in Odisha, he played a pivotal role in pioneering cardiology in the region. Dr. Das was a prolific author of scientific papers, established the Cardiology department in Odisha, and garnered numerous accolades, including a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cardiological Society of India. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the field of cardiology.
