Heavy to very heavy rain likely till July 6 as monsoon remains active
Bhubaneswar, June 30: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Odisha over the next six days, with several districts expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain. The weather office has issued Orange and Yellow warnings, urging residents to remain alert as the southwest monsoon continues to remain active over the state.
According to the IMD, on July 1, an Orange Warning has been issued for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places. A Yellow Warning has also been issued for Keonjhar, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts.
On July 2, Keonjhar is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Mayurbhanj are expected to witness heavy showers.
The rainfall activity is expected to intensify further on July 3, with Orange Warnings issued for Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Heavy rainfall is also likely in Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati.
On July 4, heavy to very heavy rain is forecast for Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Keonjhar, while several other districts, including Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Cuttack, are likely to receive heavy rainfall.
The IMD has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar on July 5, followed by Bargarh, Sambalpur and Angul on July 6. Authorities have advised residents, particularly those in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to stay updated with weather advisories and take necessary precautions during the prolonged spell of rain.
