Vigilance unearths 20 plots, two buildings during DA raids on VIMSAR official
Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday unearthed substantial movable and immovable assets during simultaneous raids on properties linked to Dhanurdhar Biswal, Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent at VIMSAR, Burla, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
According to Vigilance officials, searches conducted at multiple locations have so far revealed two buildings and 20 valuable plots allegedly owned by Biswal and his family members. Among the properties identified are a double-storeyed residential house measuring around 1,650 square feet at Dhankauda in Sambalpur and another building at Gudesinga. The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the market value of these properties.
Apart from the immovable assets, Vigilance teams recovered cash worth Rs 19.72 lakh from the premises. Officials also found a hyva truck, a Renault Kiger car, two tractors and three two-wheelers during the searches.
The verification process is still underway, with officials examining bank deposits, postal savings, insurance policies and other financial investments linked to the accused. The weighment and valuation of gold ornaments recovered during the raids are also in progress.
Vigilance sources said the searches are part of an investigation into allegations that Biswal had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Notably, this is the second major Vigilance operation conducted in Sambalpur on the same day. Earlier, the anti-corruption agency carried out similar raids on the properties of another VIMSAR employee, Aswini Meher, in a separate disproportionate assets case.
The investigation is continuing, and Vigilance officials said the total value of the seized assets will be determined after the completion of technical assessment and financial verification. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing probe.
