Bhubaneswar, July 29: The flood situation in Odisha continues to remain critical, with four people losing their lives and more than 2.03 lakh residents affected across six districts, according to the latest flood status report released by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Wednesday.

As per the report issued at 9 am, floods have impacted 2,03,208 people living in 748 villages, 233 Gram Panchayats, 44 blocks, six Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and four municipal wards. Rescue and relief operations are in full swing, with district administrations evacuating 27,967 people to safer locations. However, 226 villages continue to remain marooned due to inundation.

The floods have also claimed the lives of nine livestock animals, while extensive damage has been reported to houses, agriculture and public infrastructure.

The administration has shifted 19,080 people to safer places, established 125 relief camps, and is providing cooked meals to 16,987 beneficiaries. The district has also reported damage to 654 houses.

In Bhadrak, around 80,000 people in 220 villages spread across five blocks have been affected. Authorities have evacuated 5,330 people and opened 41 relief camps to provide shelter and essential services.

Jajpur has reported 11,156 affected people across 75 villages, with 1,640 residents relocated to safer areas. Crop damage has been recorded over 4,072 hectares, while relief operations continue in 20 camps.

In Mayurbhanj, 2,487 people have been affected, with 1,917 evacuated. The district has reported crop losses over 3,744 hectares and damage to 87 houses. Sambalpur has recorded 88 affected people and damage to seven houses.

According to the SRC, Dhenkanal district accounted for all four human fatalities reported so far and has also recorded damage to 13 houses.

Overall, floodwaters have damaged 7,901 hectares of agricultural land and 761 houses across the affected districts. The state government has directed district administrations to continue rescue, relief and restoration work on a war footing while closely monitoring river levels and weather conditions to prevent further loss of life and property.
