Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Begins UAE Visit to Attract Major Investments

Bhubaneswar, September 9: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has begun a major investment outreach programme in the United Arab Emirates, seeking to attract global capital, strengthen economic cooperation and present Odisha as an emerging destination for international businesses.

The Chief Minister’s UAE visit, covering Abu Dhabi and Dubai, is part of the state government’s efforts to expand its global investment network and establish stronger commercial ties with the Gulf region. It is also Majhi’s second international investment roadshow, reflecting Odisha’s renewed focus on attracting foreign investment and accelerating industrial development.

During the visit, Majhi is scheduled to meet senior UAE government officials, sovereign investment funds, institutional investors and leading business representatives. In Abu Dhabi, he is expected to participate in a roundtable with the International Holding Company (IHC), one of the major investment groups based in the UAE. Meetings with the UAE Minister of Investment and representatives of sovereign investment funds are also part of the programme.

The Odisha delegation is expected to use these meetings to highlight the state’s industrial strengths, investment-ready infrastructure and emerging business opportunities. The government plans to showcase sectors where Odisha can offer significant potential for investors while emphasising its focus on ease of doing business, supportive policies and faster implementation of industrial projects.

After completing engagements in Abu Dhabi, the Chief Minister will travel to Dubai for a series of one-to-one meetings with business leaders and prospective investors. An Odisha Investors’ Meet is scheduled in Dubai, providing the state with an opportunity to directly interact with entrepreneurs, industrialists and members of the Odia diaspora.

Majhi has said that the state’s objective is to make Odisha the “first choice for investors” seeking opportunities, stability and sustainable growth. The government is seeking not only investment commitments but also long-term partnerships that can strengthen trade, technology cooperation, industrial production and employment generation.

The UAE outreach comes as Indian states increasingly compete for investment from Gulf-based companies, sovereign wealth funds and institutional investors. Odisha intends to leverage its industrial base, natural resources, infrastructure and strategic location to attract international businesses and expand its role in global supply chains.

The Chief Minister is accompanied by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and other senior officials. Their participation is expected to facilitate detailed discussions on policy support, project opportunities and possible collaborations with UAE-based businesses.

The visit is also aimed at deepening the economic relationship between Odisha and the UAE. Officials believe that stronger engagement with Gulf investors can help bring fresh capital, advanced technology and new business opportunities to the state.

The government hopes the UAE investment campaign will result in concrete partnerships and investment proposals, ultimately supporting industrialisation, creating employment opportunities and contributing to Odisha’s long-term economic growth.
