Viral photo of holy trinity on Ratna Singhasan triggers security concerns at Puri Jagannath Temple
Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: A photograph allegedly showing Lord Jagannath and His siblings on the Ratna Singhasan inside the Puri Jagannath Temple has gone viral on social media, sparking serious concerns over temple security and enforcement of prohibitory orders. The image, widely circulated on platforms like Instagram, has drawn sharp reactions from devotees and the public alike.
According to reports, the photograph was uploaded by an Instagram user identified as “ashirbad945” and appears to be a digitally edited collage. The image reportedly combines a photograph of the individual taken outside the temple premises with a visual of the Holy Trinity—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, along with Lord Sudarshan—seated on the Ratna Singhasan. Despite indications that the image may have been manipulated, its circulation has triggered alarm.
Devotees have questioned how such an image could emerge at a time when photography and mobile phone usage are strictly prohibited inside the temple’s inner sanctum. The incident has reignited debate over repeated security breaches at the revered shrine, which remains one of the most sacred religious sites in the country.
Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact circumstances under which the accused individual allegedly gained access or used a smartphone within the temple premises. As of now, the district administration and police have not issued any official statement on the matter, even as demands grow for a thorough probe and stricter enforcement of security protocols to protect the sanctity of the temple.
