IMD warns of dense fog and cold wave conditions in several Odisha districts
Bhubaneswar, Dec 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert forecasting dense fog and cold wave conditions across several parts of Odisha over the next two days. According to the regional weather office, dense fog is expected at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts on December 7, with similar conditions likely to persist on December 8.
Forecasts indicate that cold wave conditions may grip isolated pockets of Jharsuguda and Angul, causing a noticeable dip in both day and night temperatures. With the winter chill intensifying, residents in these districts have been urged to take adequate precautions, especially during early morning and late evening hours.
The IMD has also cautioned that visibility may drop significantly due to dense fog, posing risks for road users. Motorists have been advised to drive slowly, use fog lights, and avoid unnecessary travel during foggy periods.
As per the IMD’s outlook for December 8, dense fog is again very likely at one or two locations in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput, indicating that foggy mornings may continue for the next couple of days.
