Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: In a tragic incident, three people, including two minors, lost their lives in a fatal road accident on NH-53 near Malpura Overbridge under the jurisdiction of Kamakhyanagar Police Station in Dhenkanal district.

According to reports, the accident occurred when an unidentified truck rammed into a motorcycle from behind at high speed. The impact was so severe that the three riders — a man and two children — died on the spot. Another person sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to Kamakhyanagar Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Eyewitnesses stated that the truck driver sped away after the collision, leaving the victims on the road. Following the incident, police reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and launched an investigation to trace the absconding vehicle.

The tragic mishap has triggered deep sorrow and outrage among local residents, who have demanded strict action against the errant driver and stronger enforcement of road safety measures along the busy national highway. The police have intensified efforts to identify the vehicle through CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts.
