Divine rejuvenation: Lord Jagannath and siblings appear in Naba Jaubana Besha ahead of Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar, June 26: After spending 15 days in seclusion at the Anasara Ghara following Snana Purnima, the sibling deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra have reappeared in their resplendent youthful form—Naba Jaubana Besha—at the Jagannath Temple in Puri. This marks the symbolic recovery and rejuvenation of the deities before their grand Rath Yatra.
The Naba Jaubana Darshan is a cherished ritual during which devotees get the first glimpse of the deities after the Anasara period. The Daitapati servitors, following tradition, performed the Banaka Lagi ritual on Wednesday, meticulously repainting the deities’ bodies—excluding their eyes—to reflect their youthful vitality. This is followed by the Netroutsav, a sacred rite linked to the restoration of the deities’ divine vision.
In preparation for the Rath Yatra 2025, the temple administration has made elaborate arrangements for orderly darshan. Devotees were allowed special ticketed darshan from 8 AM to 9 AM, followed by public darshan from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.
As excitement builds, the Holy Trinity will commence their majestic chariot journey to the Gundicha Temple tomorrow, drawing millions to Puri’s spiritual heartland.
