Support pours in as Naveen Patnaik leaves for cervical arthritis treatment
Bhubaneswar, June 20: BJD President and Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, will undergo treatment for cervical arthritis at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on June 22. The veteran leader made the announcement on social media, seeking the blessings of Lord Jagannath and the good wishes of the people of Odisha for his recovery.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Patnaik wrote:
"As advised by medical experts, I would be undergoing a procedure for cervical arthritis on 22nd of this month at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. My personal doctor Dr Ramakant Panda is coordinating this in Mumbai. With blessings of Lord Jagannath and good wishes of my brothers and sisters of Odisha, looking forward to returning soon to continue to serve all of you."
In Patnaik’s absence, the Political Affairs Committee of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will handle the party’s routine functions. Senior Vice President Debi Prasad Mishra has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating between different wings of the party.
Expressing concern, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi wished Patnaik a speedy recovery and good health. Supporters, party workers, and well-wishers have also been sending messages and offering prayers for his health.
