Two Bengal youths detained for attempted abduction of minor girl in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, June 16: In a shocking incident, Khandagiri police on Sunday night detained two youths from West Bengal for allegedly attempting to abduct a minor girl in the Dumduma area of Bhubaneswar. The accused have been identified as Gopal Majumdar and Mrityunjay Ghosh, both hailing from Medinipur district.
According to police sources, the duo allegedly sedated the girl and tried to kidnap her while she was unconscious. Fortunately, local residents noticed suspicious activity and intervened just in time to rescue the girl. The accused were reportedly caught and detained by the locals, who later handed them over to the police.
It has been learned that both men were working as labourers in a local hotel and were allegedly intoxicated during the incident. The minor girl has been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for medical evaluation and treatment.
While authorities have not yet confirmed if the girl was sexually assaulted, locals fear that the accused may have had criminal intent. The police have launched a full investigation, including forensic examinations and background checks on the suspects to determine if they are involved in similar past crimes.
