Two notorious chain snatchers injured in police encounter in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, April 4: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar conducted a successful double encounter operation in the Badagada area, injuring two dreaded chain snatchers who had been active across the city.
The accused, identified as Sonu Yadav and Manish Yadav, both hailing from Bihar, sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire and are currently undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital.
According to police sources, the duo had been under surveillance for several weeks due to their involvement in a series of chain-snatching incidents. Acting on a tip-off, a special police team launched a raid on their hideout late Thursday night. When confronted, the criminals reportedly opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police fired back, injuring both accused.
During the operation, police seized two country-made firearms and live ammunition from the spot. Investigations reveal that the two were involved in several cases, including at least six recent chain-snatching incidents reported on March 20 alone. Further interrogation and background checks are underway to uncover more details about their criminal activities.
