Information Center opens at Simlipal to educate tourists on tribal heritage

Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: In a bid to promote tribal culture and raise awareness, the Simlipal Tiger Reserve has inaugurated an Adivasi (Tribal) Information Center. The center was officially opened by Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia and BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal.
This initiative aims to educate visitors about the lifestyles, art, culture, and traditions of local tribal communities, including the Lodha, Khadia, and Mankidia tribes residing in Simlipal.
The center features exhibits that highlight the daily lives, occupations, and customs of these tribes, offering valuable insights into their unique cultural heritage. By visiting the center, tourists—especially children—can deepen their understanding and appreciation of Odisha’s rich tribal diversity.
During the inauguration, Khuntia remarked, “Tourists visiting Simlipal can learn about the tribal communities through interactive displays and exhibits at the information center. This facility will provide insights into their occupations, customs, and way of life, allowing families to gain valuable knowledge about these communities and their distinct cultural heritage.”
