IMD issues yellow warning for heatwave in Odisha from March 14 to 16

Bhubaneswar, March 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in several districts of Odisha from March 14 to 16. The affected districts include Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur.
According to the IMD forecast, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in these districts on March 14. The warning has been extended for March 15 and 16, with Angul district also included in the list of affected areas.
With temperatures expected to rise significantly, IMD has urged residents to take necessary precautions. People are advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seek shelter in shaded or air-conditioned areas to prevent heat-related illnesses.
The state administration has also been alerted to prepare for possible impacts, ensuring adequate water supply and medical facilities in vulnerable areas. The IMD continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
