Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: A tragic accident occurred early Monday morning in Jajpur district, Odisha, when a passenger bus collided with a motorbike near Chhatia, resulting in the death of the motorbike rider. The identity of the deceased has yet to be confirmed, but he was reportedly traveling to Baripada.

According to reports, the passenger bus, named ‘Chakadola,’ was on its way from Baripada to Bhubaneswar when it jumped a speed breaker and struck the motorcycle on National Highway No. 16. The impact caused the bus to catch fire, and the rider, who was coming from the opposite direction, was dragged for some distance and killed instantly. Fortunately, the bus passengers managed to escape safely before the flames spread.

Upon receiving news of the incident, a team from Baria police station arrived at the scene and sent the body for autopsy. Fire Services personnel from Chandikhol are working to extinguish the blaze. Traffic on the highway was temporarily halted following the accident.
