Two child lifters caught near Athgarh hospital, baby rescued
Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: In a shocking incident, two suspected child lifters were spotted near the government hospital in Athgarh yesterday evening, according to reports. The local police subsequently overpowered and arrested the suspects.
The police grew suspicious of two individuals on the premises of Khuntuni hospital, who were seen carrying a four-month-old baby boy. The police followed the pair, a man and a woman, and apprehended them in a desolate area in Pingua, Dhenkanal.
The two suspects have been detained, and efforts are underway to locate the parents of the rescued baby. The suspects are being questioned about their network and other details. Further detailed reports are awaited on this matter.
In a related incident, three suspected child lifters were thrashed by locals and handed over to the police in different areas of Puri district on March 18. The three youths were beaten by locals in separate locations—Gadhia Patna village, Pilipila, and Kolipada—on suspicion of being child traffickers.
