Bhubaneswar, June 4: In a heart-wrenching incident, a newlywed couple was found hanging from a tree near Paikakupakhal village under Andirakanch police limits in Rayagada district early this morning. The deceased have been identified as Abhi Jhodia and his wife Amita Jhodia.

According to sources, the couple had married around one and a half months ago with the full consent of their families. Despite this, tensions reportedly arose between them soon after the wedding. Locals and relatives noted that the couple had been facing frequent disputes in recent weeks.

Police have recovered the bodies and registered a case. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of death. While initial evidence points to a possible suicide due to ongoing marital discord, authorities are not ruling out other possibilities.

Interestingly, both families have submitted written statements to the police, declaring that no one is responsible for the deaths. However, police remain cautious and are continuing with the inquiry.

So far, no police official has made an official statement regarding the incident, which has left the village in shock.
