Mayurbhanj tragedy: CM offers Rs 3 lakh compensation to accident victims
Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik conveyed his profound sorrow on Wednesday regarding the tragic road accident at Gurashuni Ghati in Mayurbhanj district, which claimed the lives of six individuals. Extending his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, he announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 3 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased.
Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed the relevant authorities to ensure proper medical arrangements for the 12 individuals critically injured in the accident, expressing his wishes for their swift recovery.
The incident unfolded as the truck transporting the Jatra troupe 'Dhauli Gananatya' overturned on National Highway No 49 at Dwarsun Ghat in Bangiriposhi, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives and critical injuries to a dozen others on Wednesday morning.
