Nighttime warmth prevails in Odisha, caution issued for dense fog areas

Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Koraput emerged as the coldest place in Odisha, registering a nighttime low of 9°C, while a warming trend was observed in other regions of the state over the past 24 hours.
The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar reported an overall increase in minimum temperatures across most parts of Odisha, with a few areas surpassing the usual norms.
Minimum temperatures for various locations include Sambalpur (18.4°C), Bhawanipatna (16.8°C), Hirakud (16.8°C), Sundargarh (15.5°C), Phulbani (14°C), Chandbali (19.4°C), Balasore (18.3°C), Cuttack (18.5°C), and Bhubaneswar (19.2°C).
However, the meteorological office anticipates a forthcoming decrease of 2°C-3°C in minimum temperatures within the next two days, signaling a return to bitter cold in select areas of Odisha.
Simultaneously, Thursday morning witnessed shallow to dense fog in numerous places across the state, causing significant reductions in visibility. Shallow to moderate fog was reported in Rourkela, Phulbani, Goplapur, Paradip, Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda, Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur, and Keonjhar.
In response to these conditions, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in specific locations including Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Khurda, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada, and Koraput on Friday morning.
