Bomb threat emails trigger panic at Jagatsinghpur and Jharsuguda district courts
Bhubaneswar, July 17: Panic gripped the district court premises in Jagatsinghpur and Jharsuguda on Friday after anonymous bomb threat emails warned of explosions at both judicial complexes. The threats prompted an immediate security response, with police and specialised teams launching thorough search operations to ensure public safety.
According to reports, an unidentified person sent emails threatening to blow up the two court premises. Soon after the threats were received, security was tightened and access to the court complexes was closely monitored to prevent any untoward incident.
Police teams, bomb disposal squads and other specialised personnel rushed to both locations and began a comprehensive search of the buildings and surrounding areas. Every section of the court complexes was inspected, while suspicious objects, if any, were examined as part of the security exercise.
A cyber investigation has also been initiated to trace the origin of the threatening emails and identify the sender. Investigators are analysing digital evidence and electronic records to determine where the messages originated and whether they were part of a coordinated attempt to create panic.
Officials said that no explosive materials or suspicious devices had been found during the initial searches. However, authorities have maintained heightened security as a precaution until the investigation is completed.
Police said the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness, and efforts are underway to identify the person responsible and ascertain the motive behind the bomb threats. Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel while the investigation continues.
