NTA Declares NEET UG 2026 Results; Two Students Share AIR 1 with 715 Marks
New Delhi, July 17: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026, paving the way for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses across the country. Candidates can now access their scorecards on the official NEET website using their application number and date of birth.
This year's examination witnessed intense competition, with Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana emerging as joint All India Rank (AIR) 1 holders after securing 715 out of 720 marks. The results reflect the high level of performance among candidates, with the qualifying cut-off increasing compared to last year.
According to the NTA, more than 11.2 lakh candidates have qualified for the examination. Female candidates continued to perform strongly, accounting for over 58 per cent of the total qualified students, highlighting their growing presence in medical education.
The qualifying cut-off for the General and EWS categories has been fixed at 213 marks, while candidates belonging to the OBC, SC and ST categories need a minimum of 177 marks to qualify. The higher cut-off is attributed to improved overall performance and increased competition among aspirants.
Along with the results, the NTA has released the All India Rank (AIR) list, category-wise qualifying statistics, state-wise toppers and score distribution. Candidates are advised to verify all details mentioned on their scorecards and keep the documents ready for the counselling process.
The next stage of admissions will begin through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the 15 per cent All India Quota seats, while respective state authorities will conduct counselling for the remaining state quota seats. Admissions to government and private medical colleges will be based on candidates' ranks, category and seat availability.
Medical aspirants who have qualified are encouraged to regularly monitor official notifications regarding counselling schedules, document verification and seat allotment procedures to avoid missing important deadlines.
With the declaration of the results, the admission process for the 2026–27 academic session officially begins, marking a significant milestone for lakhs of students aspiring to pursue careers in medicine and allied healthcare professions.
