Drone spotted over Puri Srimandir again, raises security concerns
Bhubaneswar, Oct 13: Despite repeated warnings and restrictions, a drone was reportedly spotted flying over the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri early on Tuesday morning, once again raising concerns over the security arrangements at the 12th-century shrine.
According to reports, the drone was seen hovering over the Srimandir at around 5 am. It is suspected that footage of the temple may have been recorded using the device. However, the identity of the person operating the drone and the location from which it was controlled remain unknown.
Police have initiated an investigation to establish who was responsible for the incident and determine the circumstances under which the drone entered the restricted airspace.
The latest incident has drawn attention because the temple and its surrounding area have been designated a no-drone zone. Similar sightings have reportedly occurred on previous occasions, raising questions about the effectiveness of existing surveillance and enforcement measures.
The repeated violations have caused concern among devotees, who believe that stronger steps are needed to safeguard the shrine and maintain security for pilgrims and visitors.
Several devotees have demanded the installation of advanced anti-drone technology to detect and prevent unauthorised aerial activity over the temple. They have also called for stricter monitoring and action against those violating the restrictions.
Further details are awaited as police continue their investigation into the latest drone sighting.
