Rajinikanth Dismisses Jealousy Rumours Over Vijay’s Political Success
Veteran actor and cultural icon Rajinikanth has strongly rejected speculation that he is jealous of actor-turned-politician Vijay following Vijay’s recent political rise in Tamil Nadu. Speaking to reporters amid growing discussions on social media and television debates, Rajinikanth clarified that he has no reason to feel threatened or upset by Vijay’s success and described the rumours as baseless.
The controversy began after Rajinikanth recently met senior DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin. Soon after the meeting, several online posts and political commentators speculated that the veteran actor was uncomfortable with Vijay emerging as a major force in Tamil Nadu politics. Some reports even claimed that Rajinikanth was trying to distance himself from Vijay’s growing popularity.
Responding to the claims, Rajinikanth firmly denied any political rivalry with Vijay. He reportedly stated that there was “no reason” for him to be jealous and emphasized that he has stepped away from active politics. The superstar also reminded critics that personal friendships and political developments should not be mixed together.
Rajinikanth said his meeting with Stalin was purely personal and should not be interpreted politically. He expressed disappointment over attempts to create unnecessary controversy around his interactions with political leaders and fellow actors. According to him, social media speculation had distorted the real purpose of the meeting and created confusion among fans.
During the interaction, Rajinikanth also reflected on his own political journey. The actor stated that if he had entered electoral politics during the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, he believed he could have secured victory. However, he added that health concerns and personal reasons led him to stay away from politics. Rajinikanth had earlier announced plans to launch a political party but later withdrew the decision, citing medical advice and the challenges of public campaigning.
At the same time, Rajinikanth congratulated Vijay for his achievements and acknowledged the support the younger actor has received from the public. Vijay, who recently expanded his political activities through his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has attracted significant attention across Tamil Nadu, especially among young voters and cinema fans.
Political observers believe Rajinikanth’s clarification was aimed at calming tensions among fan groups and ending speculation about a possible rivalry between the two stars. Both actors command enormous fan bases in Tamil cinema, and comparisons between them often dominate public discussions.
Supporters of Rajinikanth welcomed his remarks, saying the veteran actor had once again shown dignity and maturity by addressing the issue directly. Vijay’s supporters also praised the statement, calling it a positive message for Tamil Nadu politics and cinema.
With the clarification now public, political analysts expect the debate around the alleged feud to cool down. Rajinikanth’s comments have reinforced the view that while cinema and politics remain deeply connected in Tamil Nadu, personal respect among leading personalities still holds importance above political competition.
