President Droupadi Murmu to visit Odisha from August 3; security and preparations intensified
Bhubaneswar, July 22: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to undertake a three-day visit to her home state of Odisha from August 3 to August 5, with official engagements planned in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Brahmapur and Taptapani. The Odisha government has begun extensive security and logistical preparations after receiving the President’s draft tour programme from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The proposed visit has prompted coordinated planning by various government departments and district administrations. Authorities are strengthening security arrangements in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Brahmapur, while detailed traffic management and route plans are being prepared to ensure smooth movement of the President’s convoy between airports, railway stations and event venues.
According to the tentative itinerary, President Murmu will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 2.10 pm on August 3. She will proceed to Lok Bhavan, where she is scheduled to stay during the visit, before travelling to Cuttack later in the day. There, she will attend the inauguration ceremony of Jagadguru Kripalu University as the chief guest.
On August 4, the President is expected to travel to southern Odisha. She will reportedly board a special train from Bhubaneswar to Brahmapur and then proceed by road to Taptapani in Ganjam district. During the visit, she is scheduled to offer prayers at the revered Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple. She is also expected to stay overnight at the Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur, or another designated location.
Officials said preparations are progressing in full swing, although the President’s programme for August 5 is yet to be finalised. The detailed itinerary for the concluding day will be announced after receiving formal approval from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
